Project Brief
For this project I am tasked with improving the design of the new e-commerce section on the website of ShockEater Shooting Gear. ShockEater manufacturers a unique impact absorbing material designed to reduce recoil and the resulting shoulder injury in hunting and shooting sports.
The primary goal of the e-commerce website is to broaden their customer reach by selling directly to the consumer vs. their current model only selling through dealers and distributors. Prior to Q4 2019 , their website was purely informational and re-directed potential customers to the websites of other dealers to order products. This consistently led to phone calls with inquires to place orders directly and email complaints that the process to order products was complicated and involved too many steps when being sent to other websites. In Q4 2019, the company established a hastily made online store, lacking any true UX strategy.
The primary business goals for this e-commerce website include:
- Creating a clear way of locating and ordering specific products
- Ability to support a single page for each product
- Steering customers towards popular products and encouraging multiple product orders
- Building customer trust with a new and emerging brand
